Introduced in 1985, the same year this guitar was made, the J-40M combines the Martin Grand Auditorium body style with a Dreadnought depth into the Jumbo M body to give players a big, powerful sound with balanced low end and treble. It features vertical grain spruce top and rosewood back and sides, paired with a low profile mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard. It delivers a full balanced sound, and having seasoned for 30 years, sounds glorious. It plays great, with a slightly higher action. It has just been set up with the lowest possible action, so if you need a lower action, it could benefit from a neck reset.
