The flagship model, the M#245, was created as a signature model for leading Japanese bassist Tomohito Aoki, and its high level of perfection has made it a popular all-around active JB model, still reigning as the model of choice for many users. The M#265, which inherits the performance of the M#245, is a flagship 5-string model that boasts overwhelming popularity.
The carefully selected two-piece ash body and dense maple neck combine to produce a powerful, crisp tone. Experience the classic “V-shaped” sound, and the ebony fingerboard’s distinctive compression enhances slap sounds, giving this guitar a unique character. Controls include treble and bass boost (2-band EQ), but the back panel also reveals a mid-cut trim, allowing you to fine-tune your sound to your liking.
The pickups are ATELIER Z’s original JBZ-5, delivering a clear and powerful output that clearly captures the attack characteristic of slap playing. The preamp is equipped with a Bartorini XTCT, delivering the powerful, compressed, and thumping Atelier Z sound in the low-mid range, truly reminiscent of Aoki himself. The use of spectrum boost wiring also ensures a more powerful, impactful sound pressure without compromising the sound’s character.
